Kim Engelman, Ph.D.
Chief, Family & Community Engagement
Dr. Kim Engelman is the Chief of Family & Community Engagement at Child Care Aware® of America. Dr. Engelman has 20 years of experience in the public health outreach, research, and education arena as well as over 10 years as an ardent local and national family advocate for high-quality child care.
Prior to Child Care Aware® of America, Dr. Engelman was an associate professor with tenure in a vibrant academic medical center. Her work focused on behavioral and population health research and outreach to underserved populations. Her career has encompassed the broad continuum from early childhood development to older adulthood.
As the Chief of Family & Community Engagement at CCAoA, Dr. Engelman strategizes and directs national initiatives focused on building mutually respectful and evolving relationships between families and their communities to unite and enhance academic, family well-being and lifelong success of children with a particular lens on the child care setting. Dr. Engelman also leads a growing and vibrant family engagement advisory team of families and professionals from around the country to bring family and professional stakeholder voices to the forefront of family engagement and early care and education policy discussions.
Dr. Engelman holds a doctorate degree in child and developmental psychology from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in human development from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Mankato State University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the St. Cloud State University.
Dr. Engelman joined Child Care Aware® of America in 2015.
