Congratulations to Deborah VanderGaast, RN, BSN, and the staff at Tipton Adaptive Daycare in Tipton, Iowa. They have been named Provider of the Month for November 2015, and they are the first care provider recognized through the program with a focus on children with special needs and disabilities.

Creating an educational environment for children as they learn and grow is the first step to a lifetime of healthy development, and Deborah VanderGaast and the staff at Tipton Adaptive Daycare go above and beyond every day to ensure all the children in their care have access to the learning experiences they create.

Although not all of the children at Tipton Adaptive Daycare have special needs, the staff has created an adaptive curriculum for all age groups with variability to make sure every child is included – whether they have special cognitive issues, physical disabilities, or emotional needs.

Tipton Adaptive Daycare focuses on play-based learning experiences, with children often leading the direction of the activities at the level of their ability. The goal of the center is to create an environment where children are ready to enter school and have developed independent functioning skills in self-help, social, cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, self-regulation, and communication.

We’re grateful to exemplary providers Deborah VanderGaast and her staff – they’re adding significant value to the development and overall health and well-being of the children in their care, and filling a vital need in their rural community.
